PRACTICAL CAPABILITY

From a Clear Brief to a Useful Working Prototype

Follow a practical sequence for building with Claude: define a manageable task, organise the context, develop the example and check its behaviour. Learn how to make useful improvements while keeping the work focused.

1

Define the Requirement

Translate a task into a small set of features and clear acceptance criteria.

2

Organise the Context

Bring together sample files, project instructions and the information Claude needs.

3

Develop the Example

Follow the prototype through its interface, data handling and targeted improvements.

4

Check and Refine

Inspect the result, investigate a problem and verify that the changes work.

WHY THIS WORKSHOP

Build Confidence Through a Complete Worked Example

Connect the Steps

Understand how planning, building and checking fit together in one coherent workflow.

Direct Useful Changes

Learn how precise instructions help Claude make focused improvements to a working example.

Make Methods Reusable

Explore how project instructions and a reusable skill support recurring tasks.

Understand the Result

Learn what to inspect, how to recognise a problem and how to assess a proposed fix.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

What You Will Learn

Scope a Practical Tool

Define a manageable requirement, its features and the behaviours to check.

Use Cowork Across Files

Organise sample information into a structured summary and related draft.

Guide Claude Code

Follow the development of a small application and request targeted changes.

Create a Reusable Method

Package one recurring documentation or review task as a skill.

Investigate and Test

Use observed behaviour, errors and checks to assess and improve the prototype.

Publish a Demonstration

Understand how a sample application is published for review and updated through a controlled change.

LEARNING METHOD

Follow the Decisions Behind the Build

Learn through clear explanations, prepared project stages and Claude screen demonstrations. Gaurav will show how the brief becomes a working example, explain the changes along the way and respond to questions about the methods used.

“Gaurav will walk through the brief, the instructions, the working example and the checks behind it. Follow how the result develops, how problems are investigated and how the method can be adapted to another task.”

Workshop Agenda

Session 1: Plan the Tool and Organise the Workflow
Three hours | Date and timing to be announced
Module 1

Turn a Task into a Manageable Brief

Learn how to define the enquiry-tracking example, select its core features and describe the behaviours that will make it useful.

Module 2

Organise Information with Cowork

Follow a small folder of sample enquiries and service information as it becomes a structured summary and follow-up draft. Learn how to inspect and refine the outputs.

Module 3

Prepare Context for the Build

Understand how project files and clear instructions guide Claude Code. Explore the role of a relevant connector through a prepared example. Includes questions and recap.

Session 2: Develop and Improve the Working Prototype
Three hours | Date and timing to be announced
Module 1

From Brief to Screens and Data

Follow the plan for the enquiry list, record fields and simple interactions. Learn how to assess the proposed approach before development.

Module 2

Build the Core Features

Follow the creation of sample records, add/edit behaviour, status changes and filtering. Understand how these features connect within the prototype.

Module 3

Make a Focused Improvement

Learn how to request a specific change, inspect the result and check that existing behaviour still works. Includes questions and recap.

Session 3: Review, Reuse and Publish the Example
Three hours | Date and timing to be announced
Module 1

Investigate a Problem and Verify the Fix

Follow a prepared defect from its visible symptom to the relevant change, then check the result against the expected behaviour.

Module 2

Reuse Instructions and Delegate a Focused Check

Learn how to package one recurring task as a skill and use a bounded agent review to inspect part of the example.

Module 3

Publish and Update the Demonstration

Follow the steps for publishing the sample application for review. Understand configuration, version history, a controlled update and the costs associated with the chosen setup. Includes questions and recap.
